I look forward to doing more research about new ingredients.Netflix’s new culinary competition The Final Table features 24 acclaimed chefs from around the world, working in teams of two through a series of country-themed challenges. I want to be capable of creating food and share it with others. I love exploring new dishes but I am also keen on understanding the nuances of food including its origin. What prompted you to become a chef and not a travel blogger, given your love for travelling? The masterclass in Pune was my third one in India and the members were cooperative, and Bangalore was the perfect end to my tour in India, concluding at an excellent Mexican restaurant. Delhi was another great experience where I was impressed with the services offered. In Mumbai, I had some of the most amazing experiences and the audience was very enthusiastic to learn about new things. The masterclasses which I conducted as part of CRED Experiences gave me a chance to meet some of the best chefs from the finest hotels in India. Share with us your experience of different cities and cooking with the Indian chefs. However, through this trip I also discovered amazing vegetarian food. I come from a country where non-vegetarian food is a part of our staple diet, so creating unique vegetarian options for India was a challenge. India offers a plethora of cuisines one can experiment with, but what stood out for me were the fascinating vegetarian options. Have you made any food discovery while you were in India? Also tell us about your most memorable food discovery till now. I believe cooking is a form of communication, and it makes me and others happy. I think the beauty of the Indian cuisine lies in its complexity, with all the spices and dairy products that are used. What is it about Indian cuisine that attracts you the most? If I have to mention some of the most important ingredients of my style, they would include spices, masalas, chillies, rice & cinnamon. The choice and quantity of the ingredients will determine your outcome. I don’t think so, because I believe cooking is based on the five elements of fire, water, air, earth and salt.įive Indian ingredients you think are an important part of your cooking style. Is there any ingredient without which you cannot do any cooking? Lastly, Tex-Mex isn’t really Mexican food which is commonly believed to be. Then, a staple diet in our cuisine includes maize, which is used to make tortillas through a process call “Nixtamal”. The third unique thing is that vanilla is an orchid which is endemic to Mexico along with tomatoes and pumpkins. Secondly, though everybody thinks nachos and chimichangas are Mexican food, they are not. Firstly, contrary to the popular opinion, we don’t eat spicy food. Mexican cuisine is very diverse but there are many things about our cuisine which the world does not know. Tell us 5 unique things about Mexican cuisine that’s unknown to many. CRED has created a good platform for their members to come and experience a wide array of unique things. It has been an enriching experience where I met so much people across different cultures. How has been your experience with CRED in India? CRED invited me to India as part of their CRED Experiences to host a masterclass on Mexican cuisine for their members. Today, we are able to share knowledge from kitchens across the globe. Through the show, I got to meet chefs from across the world and by the end of the show, we became close friends. My experience on ‘The Final Table’ was very exciting, and the journey taught me a lot.
